DATA PRIVACY POLICY STATEMENT

i-CABLE Communications Limited including its subsidiaries and affiliates in Hong Kong (“i-CABLE”) respects your privacy and commits ourselves to protecting the personal data we collect from you. We will apply and comply with the laws and principles of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap 486) of the Laws of Hong Kong in collecting, holding, processing and using your personal data.

This policy provides the details of how your personal data are handled when you visit our website at www.cabletv.com.hk (“Site”) and our mobile application “有線新聞” (“App”). This policy does not however apply to the practices of companies that we do not own or control, or to people not under our employment or management. In particular, this policy does not apply to other web sites accessible by hyperlink from the Site and the App or linking to the Site and the App.

The Chinese version of this Data Privacy Policy Statement is a translation of the English version. In the event of any inconsistency between the two versions, the English version shall prevail.

Personal Data Collection

To facilitate the provision of our services to you, when you access the Site and the App and register with or subscribe to any services therein, we ask for your personal data, which include, inter alia:

name
sex
address
fixed line and mobile telephone number
Hong Kong Identity Card number, passport number or other legal identity card number
year of birth
occupation
payment account details including name of holder, account / card number, expiry date, card security code of the payment bank account, credit card, debit card, electronic banking account, mobile payment account and account for other available payment facilities
e-mail address
users account details or any personal data recorded with us including PINs, usernames and passwords
other data in connection with and to assist in our operations.

We also collect general information about your visits by means of cookies when you visit certain services of the Site and the App. "Cookies" are small test files sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive, mobile phone or other device for accessing the Internet that can be retrieved by the Site and the App (“Device”). The information so gathered is only used for analyzing your preference in relation to the services we provide. You can decide not to accept the cookies files by altering your browser setting. However, if you do so, certain functionality of the Site and the App may not be available.

We also allow our appointed advertisers, by adding the tracking code onto the Site and the App to set and access their cookies on your computer, mobile phone or Device subject however to their own privacy policies, not this one. Neither our appointed advertisers nor we have accessed to the other's cookies which are not provided above.

Apart from the above personal data which are actively collected by i-Cable, the Site and the App may collect other privacy data. We may collect browser type, operating system, IP (Internet Protocol) address, video searched or watched etc for the Site. For the App, we may collect:-(a) information of the mobile phone and Device including equipment identifier, device type/ manufacturer, Internet Protocol (IP) address, operating system type and version, wireless carrier / mobile network operator; (b) approximate location (network-based) by GPS, your IP address or other technology.

Use of Personal Data

We will use your personal data collected only for the special purposes stated in the respective content of the Site and the App on which we invite you to provide your data in accordance with this policy statement. Your personal data will also be used for other general purposes as set out below:-

Once we have obtained your personal data, they will be maintained securely in our system against any unauthorized access, processing or deletion by various technical measures like AES Encryption, RSA digital signature and HTTP protocol. Only the authorised staff, who has been properly trained, will be permitted to access to, process and maintain such personal data. We will also ensure compliance by our staff with the strictest standards of security and confidentiality.

Personal Data Sharing, Disclosure and Transfer

We may provide your personal data to third parties’ organisations, including without limiting to any of i-CABLE's holding companies, subsidiaries, affiliates or contractors:-
(a) who provide administrative, telecommunications, computer, billing, maintenance, payment, debt collection and other services to i-CABLE in connection with the operation of its business;
(b) for the purpose of providing the service and products contained in the Site and the App;
(c) who may assist in our business;
(d) who are under a duty of confidentiality to keep your personal data confidential; or
(e) who are actual or proposed assignees, transferees or purchasers of the Site and the App.

Only the minimum necessary personal data will be provided to the third party organisation to perform its task.

We may disclose your personal data to a bank or credit card company for credit checking.

We will also disclose your personal data if we are required to do so by law.

Direct Marketing

We may use your personal data for mailing or marketing purposes, including your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address.

We may provide you with information about our products and services relating to telecommunications, internet, entertainment, technology and television and the relevant promotion as well as other joint marketing offers, products and services. Those offers, products and services may include computers and peripherals, printed matters, computer software and games, toys, sporting equipment, household goods, traveling, banking, entertainment, transportation, household, apparel, food & beverages, insurance, education, health and wellness, social network, media, health products, cosmetic and beauty products, luxurious products, vouchers, coupons and gifts etc.

If you do not want your personal data to be used for the purpose of direct marketing, please write to us at optout@i-cable.com together with your registered name and service account number to opt out from receiving such information.

Market Research

Your sex, year of birth and occupation may be given to a market research company to conduct market survey or produce statistical ratings information. The information gathered in this way, which is completely anonymous, helps us enhance our services and meet your ever-changing needs better.

Retention of Personal Data

i-CABLE will retain your personal data for so long as necessary to fulfill the original or directly related purpose for which it was collected and to satisfy any applicable statutory or contractual requirements.

Accuracy, Access and Correction of Personal Data

We make our best endeavor to ensure that the personal data we collect, use and disclose is accurate and up-to-date. Nonetheless, we rely on you to disclose all the personal data and inform us any error or change.
